One of the prime suspects behind the gruesome killing of a 48-year-old trailer driver along the Kabale–Mbarara highway in Rukiga District has been arrested by police.
ASP Elly Maate, police spokesperson in Kabale told this radio that the prime suspect was arrested yesterday and that was under detention at Kabale central police station.
According to Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi sub region said the suspect whose identities are still being concealed so as not to jeopardize investigations, was arrested yesterday and found with a SIM card of the deceased, Mr. Bernard Katabazi, a resident of Kyanika Village, Rutoto Sub-county in Rubirizi District. The deceased was attacked on in the night of September 19, 2025) at around 8:00 pm at Habufureeka Trading Centre in Kitabutaza Village, a spot separating Rukiga and Kabale districts as he drove a Mercedes Benz Actros trailer loaded with 35 tons of rice from Rwanda, destined for Mpondwe border in Kasese district.
