Hon. John Siriwayo, the Kasese Municipal Secretary for Works and Technical services has up to one month to have a pit latrine or face arrest, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
According to reports, most local residents in Railway Ward were reportedly disappointed that whereas their political representatives and line local leaders push them into the corner about the need for good sanitation, they do not walk the talk.
Ms Mary Consolator Kabugho, the central Division health Inspector who was today inspecting the homes of political leaders following a community outcry, described the state of the pit latrine as a total risk to the family of the Kasese Municipal giant he asked to be exemplary.
He also asked the Mrs. Harriet Siriwayo Ndungo they found home to have clean kitchen too, a garbage pit and hand washing facilities within one month or face the law. Ms. Mary speaking……..
Mrs. Siriwayo who described Hon. Siriwayo as an absentee husband, said she would try putting things right since her husband doesn’t pick her repeated phone calls. Mrs. Siriwayo speaking………
Ms. Laila Nkiriho, an assistant inspector attached to Railway health center three continued giving instructions as the demolition of some shabby pit latrines in the area continued, saying the state of some owned by political leaders had misguided the community and frustrated the campaign for improved sanitation. The homes of Hon. Jane Biira, the Central Division female councilor for Railway Ward and Ms. Peregiya Masika, the Kidodo cell treasury among others, were also inspected. END.
