Muhokya internally displaced Camp in Muhokya town council in Kasese district has flooded for the second time in less than two weeks with a call on government to expedite plans for permanent resettlement of the occupants.
Repeated floods causing stagnant waters in the camp according to the IDP leaders, could result into waterborne diseases that could affect the whole district as well.
The camp’s Secretary, Mr. Jockus Bawithe confirmed that heavy rains had not only flooded the IDP camp but heavy rains had also destroyed some temporary houses and crops.
Mr. Jockus also asked central government to expedite plans of resettling the camp occupants whose relocation plans the office of the Prime Minister was finalizing according to Mr. Joseph Isingoma, the Kasese District Senior planner. Mr. Jockus speaking……..
He however called for shared roles by the camp occupants to ensure that camp was free from diseases despite the incident. END.
