Mr. Erifaz Muhindi, the Kasese District Local council five chairman, has pledged to engage the Uganda People’s Defense Forces’ leadership about allegations that some of her officers were soliciting illegal fees from Ugandans farming back in the neighboring DR Congo.
Mr. Hosio Wahenyeghere, the Vice chairperson local council three for Kitolhu subcounty in Kasese district, told a community meeting chaired by Mr. Muhindi that whereas they appreciated the forces for the cross border security, illegal fees levied on food items from gardens in the DRC to Uganda, was irritating. During the same meeting held at St. Paul Kiraro Church of Uganda, Mr. Muhindi who asked local leaders to give out monies sent by government to neutralize poverty levels as per the prescribed guideline, said he was to engage security leaderships soon against the illegal fees to the said local farmers in Uganda. He also warned the locals against smuggling he said would cripple revenue sources and service delivery to Ugandans. END
