Kasese municipal council has approved a motion seeking the reallocation of Mubuku Irrigation Primary school from its current site to St. Balikuddembe-Rukoki Catholic Church in Kyondo cell, Scheme Ward in Nyamwamba division.
According to records, the government aided school located in Phase I A cell scheme Ward in Nyamwamba division, was established by Mubuku Irrigation scheme leadership mainly to serve the farmers’ households but the deadly ADF insurgency in 1996 scattered the target families, most of which declined to return later thus, negatively affecting the learners’ enrolment.
Addressing council, Hon. Teddy Kasambangene Kyakimwa, the Kasese municipal secretary for production and motion mover noted that the school currently runs short of the budget and implementation guidelines by the ministry of Education and Sports pertaining the teacher-learner ratio.
Hon. Kasambangene said whereas the St. Balikudembe private Church private school has an enrolment of 293 learners, Mubuku Irrigation scheme primary school has only three learners but government continues to aid the institution. Hon. Kasambagene speaking….
