The Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner in charge of Bukonzo County, Lt. Mate Magwara has confirmed that the Mpondwe Export Zone market in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council in Kasese district was temporarily closed over terror threats.
He said the market today was transferred to Kamasasa playground under the move aimed at guaranteeing safety of traders and property in the multibillion shillings market after rumors of suspected terror attacks.
Addressing the media shortly after the inspection, Lt. Magwara said bomb experts, and explosive detection dogs had been deployed by security to ensure safety in the market. Lt. Magwara speaking…….
Mr. Moses Mugisa, the area town clerk said whereas the situation was an inconvenience and a local revenue collection setback, it had set another pace for vigilance among the local traders and community.
