Dr. Godfrey Mugyenyi, the Medical Director of Devine Mercy Hospital, has confirmed that Buhweju County Member of Parliament Francis Mwijukye is in stable condition following injuries sustained during a scuffle over land in Buhweju district.
Mwijukye, currently undergoing treatment at Devine Mercy Hospital in Mbarara City, was admitted on Sunday evening after being attacked by individuals wielding pangas following a church Mass at Rwanyamabare Catholic Church.
According to Mugyenyi, Mwijukye was admitted with severe bruises and cuts on his head, necessitating a Brain CT Scan.
However, the investigations have revealed that his injuries are not life-threatening.
The Buhweju district LC5 chairperson, reported that Mwijukye was attacked by a group of individuals armed with machetes, sticks, and stones, resulting in head injuries from being hit with stones.
The land in dispute is situated at Rwanyamabare Village, Omuhambo Kyakatungu parish, Buhweju District.
In the meantime, Mwijukye has accused city lawyer Edwin Burambire of orchestrating the attack by hiring assailants. END.
