The police in Kikuube are holding Namulungi Alifunsini, a 48-year-old resident of Mukungu A village in Kasonga parish, Kyangwali sub-county, for allegedly beating her child to death.
The victim, Bahati Mwombamungu, aged 12, was reportedly accused by his mother of escaping from home for two days under unclear circumstances.
Mwombamungu had disappeared from home on Friday afternoon, causing tension among family members.
When he returned home on Sunday afternoon, his mother confronted him about his whereabouts for the past two days. Unable to provide a satisfactory explanation, the mother allegedly resorted to beating him with a stick.

His condition deteriorated, and he was referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he passed away en route.
The police responded by arresting the mother and detaining her at Kikuube Central Police Station.
