Police has named some of the 10 people killed by floods that wreaked havoc in Mbale city and district on Saturday.
Some of the victims include Uganda People’s Defense Forces Soldier, Private Sam Chemulindwa who was attached to the 53rd Battalion in the 3rd Division according to Major Isaac Owale, the Division Spokesperson.
Others include a university student Jane Nekesa, Doreen Tamumza, Babra Kalayi and Rukia Kalayi who are all members of the same family, and Yadi Farouk, all residents of Northern Division in Mbale City.
Rt. Hon. Robina Nabanjja, the Prime Minister who calls for the restoration of the mountain cover that has been tempered with by the community, pledged government support to the victims of the floods, including relief food which she said was on the way and that the affected persons will get it soon.
