    Mass distribution of face masks in Hoima district has started.

    The mass distribution of face masks to communities in Hoima district has started after the exercise was officially flagged off yesterday by State Minister for Health Robinah Nabbanja at Hoima district Headquarters.

    The Health Ministry delivered a total of 380,000 face masks to be distributed in 464 villages in the sub-counties of Kigorobya, Kitoba, Bombo, Buhanika, Kyabigambire, Kisukuma, Kabaale and Kiganja among others with Hon, Nabbanja cautioning the people of Hoima to adhere to the guidelines and always wear the masks while in public places.
    Nabbanja also called on the district COVID-19 taskforce to closely monitor the distribution of the masks train health workers, educate and empower communities to protect themselves against the virus as cumulative COVID-19 cases raise beyond 900 in Uganda.

    Bishop Vincent Kirabo of Hoima Catholic Diocese is concerned that communities are taking a fragmented approach in fighting the pandemic, with people abandoning the guidelines put in place to combat the spread of the pandemic, advising that social distancing, hand washing and use of face masks, among others is the way to go. Bp Kirabo speaking….

    Hoima Resident District Commissioner-RDC Samuel Kisembo warns that after the distribution, whoever will be found in public without a face mask will be arrested and charged with attempted murder. END
