It’s planned that the Rwenzori Theluji Marathon on September 3rd at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges in Kasese district will soon join the growing number of elite Marathons in East Africa.
Engineer Gabriel Fataki and Rtd. Rt.Rev.Jackson Thembo Nzerebende, the brains behind the Marathon now plan to tap into the running community around Uganda and the whole world not only to boost the tourism of the Rwenzori and Kasese but also to create awareness about climate change and the need to protect the environment.
Addressing the press at Shiloh Gardens in Kasese town yesterday(11th.July.2022) shortly after field inspection of the 51 kilometer run, Bishop Nzerebende described the Marathon as a physical fitness and transformational event to the society. Bishop Nzerebende on Theluji……
Nzerebende noted there is need to market Rwenzori Mountain the most technical on the continent because of its unique features and because it has the biggest blocks of mountains on the continent with sixteen peaks.

He said the marathon will be one of the highlights of the Rwenzori festival and noted that it’s going to be a big thing in promoting tourism.
