The DP Presidential candidate Nobert Mao says that his government will consider elevating Kasese into a mineral district, upon his election as the Head of State.

Kasese, a town north of Lake George in Western Uganda is endowed with a rich natural resource base. It was developed around the Kilembe Copper mines, located near the Rwenzori Mountains and Queen Elizabeth National Park is also known for the booming cobalt industry.

According to Mao, the current government has tactically failed to utilize the endowments in Kasese, thus saying his government will seek to turn Kasese into a copper city.

Mao said the same government will also, focus on rebuilding systems of social justice to ensure that all persons who were affected by the 2016 Rwenzururu attacks are identified and compensated.

    Hon. Mao on compensation…….

He re-echoed his earlier demand for the unconditional release of the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere and all persons that were arrested in the attack on the Rwenzururu Palace.

Meanwhile, Mao said that his party; the Democratic Party believes that the land fund can be used to end land conflicts in the region through the acquisition of land to resettle persons who have conflicted with each other and with wildlife.

    Hon Mao on land……

Hon. Mao also asked the police to be law abiding while fulfilling the covid-19 regulations than applying them for a specific groups saying the law works for all the people. Hon. Mao on covid-19……

Mao also rallied the people of Kasese to celebrate election as a tool that will send their clear message to the current government.

Meanwhile a few crowds gathered around the hotel and at the shell petrol station to have a glimpse at the candidate as he set off to his first rallies in Busongora South. ENDS
