A man in his early twenties is reported to have survived death after an angry Mob pounced on him on allegations of stealing coffee in Kitsutsu two village in Munkunyu Sub County in Kasese district.
Reports indicated last evening that the irritated mob unreservedly punched the suspect before reportedly beating him with any hard objects in their midst.
No official comment yet from police but Mr. Gambi Mulemba, the Chairperson local council one for Kitsutsu two village regretted the incident, saying Mr. Boss Gift, the suspect who is also a resident of the same area recently escaped from police cells before being caught again in a similar incident that forced the beating.
Mr. Eliab Masereka, a popular business man in Kinyamaseke town council and coffee owner said the suspect who is a drug addict and alcoholic, was later released by police in Kinyamaseke on realizing that he had been beaten severely by a mob. Mr. Eliab speaking………
In recent interview, ASP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson who announced renewed police operations against thieves, warned the community against mob justice he described as a frustration of justice. END.
