A suspect has committed suicide inside Rukungiri Police cells.
The lifeless body of 28-year-old Ditas Mugarura, a resident of Kinyamahwa village in Nyakagyeme Sub County was found dangling in the cells of Kebisoni Police post around 11:00 pm yesterday(16th.November.2020).
Mugarura had been locked up on assault charges.
The deceased’s wife, Annitah Ainembabazi, says she separated with the suspect three weeks ago following a misunderstanding.
She, however, says the suspect stormed her current home and took their one year old daughter, which prompted her to report a case at police.
Police swung into action and picked Mugarura around 7:00 pm and locked him up at Kebisoni police post where he committed suicide using his shirt. Police later found the child with a woman only identified as Rita, a bar operator in Kagarama B village, in western division Rukungiri municipality with the help of a Boda- boda rider who was used by the deceased to pick her from her mother. Rita was also picked up to help with police investigations. Ends.
