There was excitement at Kyangumirya lower cell trading center in Kasese Municipality yesterday as Madaraka Cares, a non-governmental organization in Kasese, delivered 500 meters of water pipes to extend water to the area.
Mr. Simei Bobera Masereka, an area water committee member and Mr. Joward Baluku Kadeke, like many local residents, described the development as a dream come true in minimizing water borne diseases in the area, the associated risks and the long distances that women trekked for safe and clean water. Mr. Ray Robert Musinguzi, the Programs Director at Madaraka Cares, had earlier told this radio that the three roles of water pipes, were a fulfilment of a pledge by their Executive Director, Mr. Douglas Saturday Madaraka to have the area served by water mainly for the safety of children and mothers who have been walking long distances for safe and clean water. In his recent cellphone speech from the US to the local community of Kihara cell, Mr. Saturday Masereka, called for hard work, ownership of community projects and promotion of peace and unity against discrimination he said was a source of conflicts. END
