By Francis Muhindo,
Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, has warned boda-boda cyclists against reckless riding, which he said has contributed to the increasing number of road accidents.
Presiding over as the chief guest during the Annual General Meeting of Kilembe Stage Boda-Boda Thuyihimbe Savings and Credit Association, held at Rwenzori Square in Verina Gardens today, Lt. Walunsimbi called for strict observance of traffic rules and regulations.

He cautioned riders against engaging in careless riding during processions, noting that such behavior often leads to accidents and loss of lives.

Mr. Peterson Muhindo, the Association Director, attributed most accidents to poor motorcycle maintenance, explaining that many riders fail to service their motorcycles because they are under pressure to meet daily cash handovers to their bosses.

He encouraged riders to join the SACCO, which currently has 550 members, and over 60 million share capital and apply for loans to purchase their own motorcycles, this, he said, would reduce pressure on them, as they could repay the loans at low interest rates.

Mr. Ahmed Amin, the Chairperson of Kasese District Boda-Boda Riders Association, called for collaboration and accountability transparency of the Sacco funds. End
