Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council will soon evict community members who have turned lockups at Mpondwe market in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha in Kasese district into residential rooms for their big families, Mr. Selevest Mapoze, the local council three chairperson for Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council has announced.
Mr. Maopoze’s comments follow this week’s community meeting whose most special invitees were market vendors who reported the un healthy environment in the market as their biggest challenge.
To the vendors, besides the filled up and smelly toilet, they accuse the town council leadership and local community members for allowing loitering domestic animals and birds that feed on their business.
According to the local residents on the other side, other than the market having no water inside the market, some market vendors have turned lockups into homes for their big families thus, messing up with sanitation mainly at night. Resident speaking1………
Mr. Mapozewho said the reported relocation of the cattle market to his town council would boost local revenue collection, also revealed that a shed for market vendors and emptying the market toilet were top on his agenda to guarantee sanity in the market. Mr. Mapoze speaking……
