Mr. Ezrone Masereka and Pelucy Kiiza are two of the many local residents who task the Rukoki subcounty leadership to account for a piece of land that housed the subcounty headquarters in Kigoro cell in the current Kasese Municipality.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio last evening, Mr. Yohana Kidweke, the former local council three chairperson for Rukoki subcounty, said the local community members have a right to seek for accountability because the property that originally hosted their subcounty headquarters before the establishment of the municipality, ‘belonged’ to them.
Mr. Kidweke who asked his successor to account to the public, said during his tenure, an evaluation of the property was made where 173 million shillings was to be paid, of which 33 million shillings was monies to be remitted to the district. Mr. Kidweke speaking………
According to the current subcounty chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Kitsama, the 100 million shillings share given to the subcounty after the sale, was spent on buying the Buhaghura piece of land that house the new subcounty headquarters. Mr. Kitsama speaking……..
In a separate interview, Ms Allen Biira and Robert Asiimwe, other local residents said the contradictions in the sell figures by Mr. Kidweke and Mr. Kitsama, call on the subcounty leadership to clarify to them. END
