Local community members who are affected by roaming wild animals mainly in Kisinga and Lake Katwe subcounties in Kasese district, plan to drag Uganda Wildlife Authority to court for failure to fulfill their role, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.

In an interview shortly after the farmers` Meeting with local leaders in Kisanga village Kisinga Sub County yesterday, their coordinator, Mr. Sulaiti Kule said they had rested their original plan for a peaceful demonstration for court readiness against UWA that has not only failed to protect wildlife but also compensation to the affected local residents. Mr. Sulait Speaking ……..

Mr. Julius Mukeri, the local council three Chairperson for Kisinga Sub County said whereas the community has the right to sue, he was to consult the Kasese RDC over the progress of the electric fence and possible plans to guard the Nyamughasani valley against the wild beasts.

    Mr. Mukeri Speaking ……..

Kisanga, Rwesororo, Nyamugasani, and Rwembyo in Kisinga, and Kabirizi in Lake Katwe Sub Counties are most affected areas in Kasese district.

The Uganda Wild life Authority recently said in a statement that the challenge would be solved soon once the boundary issues with cattle keepers on the lower side of the highway, are solved. END
