The Executive Director for Kasese Youth Link, Mr. Ronald Kato has asked police to investigate suspected cases of child labor and defilement in Kinyamaseke town council in Kasese district.
Speaking to our reporter at his offices yesterday, Mr. Kato said it all started when a seventeen year-old student was impregnated by a 28-year-old, Mr. Joshua Kule of Kitholhu subcounty who negotiated with the victim’s family to have a babysitter to allow the young mother resume studies. Ms Aida Mbambu, the victim’s mother and a resident of Pida cell in Kinyamaseke town council, said whereas her in-law fulfilled the condition, she was not comfortable too with the age of the babysitter; reported to the local leadership and her son-in-law, who has since promised to employ one with the required age. The area Assistant Community Development Officer, Mr. Venesio Kihangwa, said they had agreed in principle to have the nine year old babysitter back to her parents and resume studies as schools open for first term next year. Mr. Kihangwa speaking……
