Kasese district local government is planning to construct the nineteen Kilometer, Kigombi-Ihandiro road, linking the Rwenzururu King’s burial grounds in Bulemba to the rest of Kasese district.
The first Rwenzururu King, Isaya Mukirania’s burial grounds located in Rwenzori Mountains National are under plans for a fully-fledged cultural and tourism site.
In an interview with our reporter shortly after a tour of the area, Mr. Erifaz Muhindi, the Kasese district local council five chairperson said his executive had resolved to develop more cultural sites in the district, key of them being the king’s burial grounds, starting with the road network in the area to boost tourism. Obed Masereka, the Kasese district councilor for Ihandiro sub-county was optimistic that other than tourism, the road would simplify security supplies and operations, recalling the 1996 security back up challenges when Kasese and the region were attacked by Allied Democratic Force rebels. Mr. Andrew Mbusa, the in-charge for Ihandiro ranger post welcomed the development, asking Mr. Muhindi to amplify their request for Telecommunication network in the area.
Mr. EriabKule, a local resident of Kyibwa village hailed the local council five chair for the development he said will ease production and marketing of produce in the area. END
