Hundreds of people turned up yesterday at Karusandara Primary school in Karusandara Sub County in Kasese district for Live Drama commonly known as “Omukekera” presented by Kasese guide radio with a call to the local people to put to practice lessons learnt from the presentation for the protection of the rights of Children.
In a separate interview shortly after attending the drama, the Kasanga parish Curate, Rev Fr. Joseph Tumusiime warned that the future was going to be led by indisciplined, care free, un lawful and disrespective personalities should no plans be put in place to guide and protect the rights of children.
The senior woman teacher at Karusandara Primary school Ms Agnes Katusime blamed early marriages to the rampant school dropouts as a result of irresponsible parents some of whom she said do also push their young girls into marriages for wealth.
KGR`s station manager, Mr. Edward Makanika Edward who hailed the Karusandara people for maintaining unity in diversity asked the local population to promote plans against the violation of Children`s rights for purposes of bringing un in Kasese district and the region at large.
I her brief speech, the Kasese district NRM woman MP contender, Mrs. Sedress Kalengyo Kayiri called for faithfulness and patience among married couples properly nature their children.
A representative from Good hope Foundation, Mr. Obed Kule asked various educational stakeholders to play their roles towards promotion of education in the area, a move he said would iron some of the challenges at family levels.
