Residents of Basenia-Kihalimu cells in Central Division, Kasese Municipality, have threatened to hold a peaceful demonstration over stray lions, allegedly from Queen Elizabeth National Park, which have been terrorizing the local community.

Mr. Jackson Mbabu, Papa Kaunda, Mr. Kato Zunguka,a political aspirant for the LC3 seat of Central Division on NUP ticket in the 2026 general elections and Mr. Isaac Kalyabyuma, the LC2 chairperson for Nyakabingo II Ward, have reaffirmed their commitment to mobilize the public to hunt down the reported stray lions.

In a recent phone interview, Mr. Bashir Hanji, the Communications Manager for the Uganda Wildlife Authority, stated that the lions tracked using collar site signals have since returned to the peripheries of Queen Elizabeth National Park and are now back in the bushes.
