The construction of Kasindi-Beni road in the Democratic Republic of Congo is reportedly being slowed down by limited security in the area, the project contractor has been quoted as saying.
The joint Uganda and DR. Congo road construction project in Eastern DR Congo consists of 134-kilometre from Kasindi border to Butembo and the Bunagana to Rutsuru-Goma Road which measures about 89 kilometers.
Eng. AnanthulaNagendra, the project coordinator from DOTT Services Limited says they are working in short phases because they were guided to limit their operation to a network of only 20 Kilometers that be secured at the time by the UPDF and FADRC forces operations.
He says they are first working on the 20 KM stretch from Kasindi to Uulu and from Beni side to Paidha. The project engineer says they anticipate to complete the work in 15 months but this might also depend on the security situation in the area. END
