Lady Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya has been elected the first female President of the Uganda Judicial Officers Association, anĀ umbrella that brings together Judges, Registrars and Magistrates.
Kazaarwe was elected during the Annual General Meeting held in Kampala on Saturday.
She replaces Justice Tadeo Asiimwe, the Deputy Head of the Land Division of the High Court, who headed the Association for two terms.
Kazaarwe will be deputized by Fort Portal Grade one Magistrate Daphne Ayebare.
Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, the patron of Uganda Judicial Officers association, spoke tough, saying he is ready to forgive any judicial officer for anything but not one who engages him/herself in the vice of corruption.
Kazaarwe pledged to unite the disunited members of the Uganda Judicial officers association to forget their past differences in the interest of dispensing equitable justice for the people of Uganda.

Meanwhile, the newly elected representative of Chief Magistrates, Moses Nabende said he will first focus on issues regarding the resolution of case backlog, and advocate for more Judicial training to enhance their skills and better working tools. Mr. Nabenda speakingā¦.
Other executive members voted unopposed include, General Secretary Conrad Obol Oroya and his Vice General SecretaryĀ Praise Ahurira among others. END
