Lack of access to electricity has slowed the voter registration exercise in hard to reach areas of Kasese district.
On Monday, Uganda’s Independent Electoral Commission commenced the General Update of the National Voters’ Register for people aged 18 years and above.
At Kibati trading center Mahango Sub County, the computer’s batteries ran out of power and the Electoral Commission staff were forced to shift to Buthale health center II where a solar system is installed.
As a result of these delays, only seven people were worked today.
Power outages have also affected the exercise in areas of Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Karambi and Kitholhu sub-counties.
Raudia Kabugho Bituhura a resident of Mahango Sub-county noted that a number of people have been turned back after finding the updating computers down.
