Hundreds of students and visitors were turned away from Kyambogo University on the first day of the presidential nominations on Monday(02.November.2020) because of showing up without face masks.
Those turned away tried to access the university from Kyambogo police station gate, national council for higher education gate, department of art and design gate and Kabaka road.
The said entrances are usually manned by Kamed Security Company, a private Security Company.
However, because of the two day’s presidential nomination, they are now accompanied by other security agencies like police and soldiers.
Despite the presidential nomination taking place at Kyambogo sports ground, the few students who made it into the university were allowed to access their lecture rooms.
Earlier on, the Kyambogo University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Elli Katunguka had communicated the suspension of all university activities.
Kyambogo University has already entered in the books of the Health Ministry after one of the staff in the office of Dean of vocational studies tested positive for COVID-19. His nine contacts have since been isolated. Ends.
