The National Unity Platform presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, criticized the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, for keeping quiet about several attacks by security at his campaign rallies and trials.
Kyagulanyi said this yesterday shortly after his convoy was blocked by the police along the Mbarara- Ibanda Road as he headed to Mbarara District for his final rally at Rubindi playground. One hundred of his supporters and his press team were arrested and others injured.
Kyagulanyi, who had just finished his rally at Mbarara High School Playground in Kiyanja, Mbarara City, found a roadblock a few miles after Nyakisharara.
Kyagulanyi said that he has written several letters informing Justice Byabakama of the several attacks by security personnel and the RDCs, but he has yet to respond. Hon. Kyagulanyi speaking…
Kyagulanyi said that more than 100 of his members were arrested, and Police, in a statement, confirmed making several arrests in Mbarara district targeting individuals with criminal records. END
