Kasese Municipal Authority has given one week ultimatum to hotel owners and entertainment centers operating below standard to have them renovated in preparation for the tusker lite marathon, ahead of Mt. Rwenzori theluji festival.
Speaking to the press yesterday shortly after a one day Municipal health inspection of hotels, entertainment centers and Guest houses in Kasese Municipality, the Kasese senior municipal health inspector, Mr. Christopher Kabagambe noted poor hygiene and security risks, he thinks should be worked upon by the proprietors to create a conducive environment for tourists that are expected in Kasese district ahead of the second edition of theluji festival slated on 2nd September. 2023.

Kabagambe, who described Kasese district as a tourism hub in Africa, was opprtumistic that the influx of tourists should be utilized by the local community to tap different business opportunities.
Government recognizes tourism as a lead sector in the development and transformation of Uganda, s economy from peasant to middle income status. Numerous activities have been organized aimed at amplifying tourism in the Rwenzori region and positioning Kasese as a top tourist destination that includes, cultural diversity expo, the tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori marathon, tree planting and miss tourism, among several others. END.
