The dust seems to have settled last evening after Fish mongers in Kisanga market finally agreed to be relocated to the nearby Kasese central Baptist church premises in Kasese Municipality.
Earlier yesterday, the proposed relocation of the fish dealers to decongest the market to tame the spread of COVID-19 caused friction between the vendors and the Kasese Municipal leadership.
According to the fishmongers, the proposed Saad market near Railway police was far away from other food markets and therefore not practical for their customers to reach them now that both public and private means of transport have temporarily been banned by President Museveni.
One Nya Muhindo, a fish vendor was one of the many woman who resisted the plan by the Municipal council to move them to Railway Saad market over the distance she said their customers will decline to cover on foot for fish. Mama Nyamuhindo….
The Kasese Municipal Mayor, His Worship Chance Kahindo said the move to have fishmongers at the Kasese central Baptist church premises was under tight conditions that his office ought to fulfill like it is for the food market currently hosted by All Saints Pro-Cathedral Church of Uganda in Nyamwamba Division.

The Kasese Division Police Commander, ASP Francis Agrey Kyesimire said the Kasese Municipal leadership called for an emergence meeting after protests by the fishmongers against Saad market near Railway police station they faulted for being far from other market premises for the comfort of their customers.
Mr. Pimako Kasereka, the local council three chairperson for Nyamwamba Division hailed the Kasese Central Baptist Church leadership for the market space he said has a toilet and urinals places. Mr. Pimako speaking……
Kasese Guide radio is however yet to know if the Kasese Municipal leadership has been considerate on whether the owners of the new market premises were ready to keep open their places of conveniences for the market vendors and their customers to use. END
