Tooro Kingdom yesterday concluded the last cultural ritual, marking the climax of the 28th embargo celebrations since the coronation of King Oyo Rukidi IV.
The ceremony, an integral part of the kingdom’s cultural heritage, is traditionally held at Karuzika Palace, the traditional court, presided over by the King, who is regarded as the most impartial, fair, merciful, and supreme judge in the land.
Mr. Richard Karozi, the ritual bearer and head of Kingdom regalia, explained in an interview with this radio that during the final ritual, the King, as the head of the Kingdom, is taken to Muchwa, a traditional court, where he presides over nine cases.
These cases typically involve domestic violence, incidents of indiscipline among Kingdom chiefs and ministers, petty grievances, and more, all reported by the ritual bearers from across the kingdom.
Mr. Karozi emphasized that only criminal cases are exempted from the King’s court due to the introduction of formal court systems today.
The King also urged the youth to actively promote and preserve the rich Tooro Culture for future generations. END
