Mr. Anderson Bwambale, a health worker with Médecins Sans Frontières, has urged parents of children with sickle cell disease to provide them with the care and support they deserve.

While addressing community members and stakeholders yesterday during World Sickle Cell Day celebrations held at Rwenzori Square in Kasese Town, Anderson expressed concern that many parents and guardians are alleged to discriminate against children born with sickle cell disease, resulting in stigma.
According to him, such discrimination often leads to depression and other mental health issues.
He therefore appealed to parents to adopt a positive mindset and provide emotional support to children living with the condition.
