Meanwhile,Hon. Jackson Mbaju Kathika, the National Unity Platform –NUP candidate for Busongora County South By-Election has called for the transfer of Kasese District Returning officer should he fail to conduct a free and fair election.
Kathika was worried that the same electoral boss, Mr. Ismail Turkey who presided over the past election failed to supervise the exercise that allegedly led to irregularities which resulted into a by-election.
Addressing the press last evening in Kasese town, Kathika asserted that in Muhokya town council, the electoral commission has started registering internally displaced people staying in Muhokya camp, who are reportedly voters in Kasese Municipality but not in Busongora County south. Now Kathika wants the electoral commission to register eligible voters at their respective polling stations to avoid a repeat of irregularities that may result into another court case, should this by-election be married again with irregularities.
He urged the EC offices in Kasese to have time to verify voter registers to avoid friction between candidates.
