No compensation for developers who could have encroached on road reserves as Kasese Municipality embarks on a 76 billion shillings major infrastructure development project under the Uganda Cities and Municipal Infrastructure Development (UCMID) Phase II program.
His Worship Chance Kahindo, the Kasese Municipal Mayor, who said the funding will improve infrastructure and boost business activities in the municipality, told Kasese Guide Radio today that over four hundred houses will be affected by the project and, according to guidelines, no compensation will be provided to affected persons.

Ferigo Kambale, the Kasese Municipal Legislator, revealed that the project will also revamp Rwenzori Square, transforming it into a recreation center to house games and a children’s park among others, aimed at making Kasese a top destination for tourism and business in the country. Mr. Chance who reaffirmed his earlier revelation that the key roads and major drainage channels, including the Kamulikwizi drainage channel, would be part of the construction works, adding that the funding follows transparent accountability of the 54 billion shillings under USMID between the years, 2019 and 2024.
