Budget cuts that were partly caused by low revenue collections have badly affected service delivery in Kasese district, the district Vice Chairperson Hon. Jetress Ithungu has said.
Hon. Jetress who largely blamed the recently locked economy over the COVID-19 pandemic for the low revenue collections, was responding to the media on why some sectors budgeted for in the areas of roads and water among others had not been covered as this financial year comes to an end.
She said much has not been done after the district received twenty billion less of the 84 billion shillings budgeted for the financial year ending. Hon. Jetress speaking1………
Hon. Jetress who doubles as the Kasese district woman councilor representing Nyakiyumbu and Bwera subcounties said they were planning to establish two cattle holding places and open more markets as alternative local revenue bases for the district. Hon. Jetress speaking2…
She appreciates the Kasese district Chief Administrative Officer and the district chairperson for various lobbying strategies that have looked into plans to complete the district administration block, as well as putting various development partners on board for interventions into the plights of the disaster victims, women and children in school among others. She calls for joint collaboration by all developers, local leaders and members of the community in developing the district than apportioning blames. END.
