Kasese secondary school in Kasese Municipality has temporarily closed for a midterm term break not necessarily over economic crisis as perceived over social media platforms, the Kasese Municipal Education officer, Mr. Emmanuel Kayiri has confirmed.
Social media platforms were awash with posts related to the closure of Kasese secondary school till next term over what many perceived to be the escalating commodity prices that could not give the learning institution more breathing point to operate.
Such posts forced many to respond defense with the retired Bishop of South Rwenzori diocese, Rt. Rev. Zebedee Masereka wondering if this is the first time a school has had a mid-term break.
He also said Kasese secondary school was a big institution managed by reputable people who must be given ample time to speak to the public than mere social media speculations.
In an interview with Kasese guide radio yesterday, Mr. Kayiri who asked parents and guardians to take good care of their children at home, said the move was just a normal midterm break that will see learners return to school on Monday next week. Mr. Kayiri speaking1……
