Kasese District last year recorded a total of 642 mental health cases, according to Dr. Amon Bwambale, the District Health Officer.

Speaking at the World Mental Health Day celebrations held today at Rwenzori Square in Kasese Town, an event organized by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Dr. Amon revealed that mental illness is on the rise both in Kasese and across the country.
Dr. Amon noted that out of the 642 reported mental health cases, 160 involved adults whose conditions were linked to drug abuse.

Mr. William Bwambale, the Kasese District Community Development Officer, commended Médecins Sans Frontières for its ongoing support to adolescents urged young people to avoid behaviors that could negatively affect their mental and overall well-being.
