Kasese Divisional Police has started investigation following the arrest of a Senior Two student accused of defiling a Primary Six pupil in Kasese Municipality.
The Rwenzori East Region Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumusiime, confirmed the arrest but declined to reveal details about the suspect, not to jeopardize with investigation.
Mr. Ronald Kato, the Executive Director of Kasese Youth Link, sympathized with the mother of the victim, who reportedly attempted to commit suicide upon learning that her daughter was pregnant.
He strongly condemned the incident and urged boys and men to refrain from engaging in illegal sexual activities, warning that those involved would face arrest and prosecution. Mr. Kato speakingβ¦.
Mr. Kato also emphasized the need for the public to report parents or guardians who attempt to settle defilement cases privately, thereby compromising the rights and justice of the victims. END
