Kasese District Boss, Mr. Erifaz Muhindi has written to the Executive Director Uganda Road Fund requesting for emergency funding worth over seven hundred Million shillings for the rehabilitation of Katholhu-Kayanzi Road in Nyakiyumbu Sub-County, Kasese district.
For the last seven years, Katholhu-Kayanzi Road 8 kilometers has experienced a repeated destruction due to floods which have seriously hindered service delivery in the Sub-County, the district and Nation at large.
Addressing a stakeholders meeting in Muhokya town Council this morning, Muhindi, said the Executive Director Uganda Road Fund, Eng. Andrew Naimanya has pledged to consider his request.
The road is really in sorry state, it developed potholes, gullies and seasonal streams due to floods of 2013 to 2022 which have covered large sections of the road making it impassable.
Muhindi indicated that Kayanzi Road serves the business community trading mainly in fish, importing Coffee, timber and serve as security road since its close in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
