Hon. Ukashi Swaib Musenene, the Kasese Municipal Speaker has appointed a five member working committee to investigate allegations of finance mismanagement by Mr. Geoffrey B Bamanyisa, their town clerk.
The appointed of Hon. Moris Kabagambe Kibi, Hon. Siciria Biira, Hon. Herbert Katya and Hon. Augustine Muhindo, follows a report by His Worship Chance Kahindo, seeking the transfer of Mr. Bamanyisa over alleged mismanagement of about 112 million shillings meant for the construction of Katarasa road in Bulembia division, an allegation the town clerk denies. Mr. Chance told Kasese Guide Radio that he was scared working with Mr. Bamanyisa, a man who denies having spent the 122 million shillings, yet the same civil servant had handed to his office the expenditure of the money, an audit report and his submissions to Anti-corruption coalition. In his defense during council, Mr. Bamanyisa, faulted and called it illegal for the Mayor to petition the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of local government without consulting council, and for council to constitute an investigation over a matter that higher offices were yet to have a position about. In same today ‘s council, councilors from the opposition, including; Hon. Godfrey Munyirambe, Hon. Salveri Sunday and Hon. Wilson Ntama, said they decided to keep silent during council after reports that their counterparts in the NRM reportedly had a private meeting with the town clerk over last weekend.
