Opposition members in Kasese district are disappointed over the manner in which Kasese Industrial and Business Park has not been made operational.
The members say when the government introduced the initiative across the country, they thought it would help to address the challenges of unemployment among the youth who form the biggest percentage of unemployed persons.

John Siriwayo, the Kasese municipal secretary for social works and technical services and Mr. Jafali Kigutiha, the local council chairperson for Basecamp lower cell, who are members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), said they have for long waited for the investors to officially begin their respective works on the allocated pieces of land but in vain. Mr. Alfred Ikwera, the Kasese District FDC Secretary argues that when he was still a member of the Municipal Council, they instructed the investors to develop their pieces of land within a period of one year, wondering why the industrial park is still bushy after five years.
Ikwera wants the Uganda Investment Authority to make a public statement about the operations of Kasese Industrial and Business Park.
