A section of leaders in Kasese have called on government and her development partners to embark of plans for a lasting solution against repeated seasonal disasters in the district.
Several local leaders at the handover of relief aid by the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church to victims in Mapata village in Bugoye sub-county in Kasese District, called for a comprehensive survey on the mountainous areas and later preventive measures to guarantee the safety of lives and property.
In his address before receiving the relief aid at the Kasese District headquarters this week, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi, the Kasese District Local council Five Chairperson called for the intervention of the faith based leaders into sensitizing the mountainous vulnerable masses about the causes of disasters and their safety, as well as how best the locals can utilize the environment without damaging it. Mr. James Katalikawa Muthulhanda, the Chairperson local council three for Bugoye subcounty called for the promotion of preventive measures against disasters, as well as putting plans for relief aid to the affected community members and to fix the damaged roads in the area.

Each of the affected families got 16 pieces of iron sheets, a four inch mattress, scholastic materials and food staffs among others. END
