The Kasese district local council five chairperson, Mr. Eriphaz Muhindi has strongly condemned the murder of the two foreign tourists and their driver who were killed by suspected ADF remnants in Queen Elizabeth national park in Kasese district.
He said whereas the Joint security arms of the Ugandan government led by the UPDF was pressing every button to either arrest or put out of action the said ADF killers, the community should closely work with security against some local community members who could be aiding the enemy.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio at the scene of crime near Lake Nyamunuka in Katwe-Kabatooro town council in Kasese district, Mr. Muhindi who regretted the incident whose planners he confidently believes will be dealt with, called for improved neighborhood watch against strangers and collaborators whom he described as saboteurs of development among the locals. Mr. Muhindo later reminded the Kasese people that such incidents do not only affect government but the local community that directly and indirectly benefit from the tourism sector, thus, calling for collaborated efforts to deal with terrorism.

Mr. Selevano Baluku, the manager for Rwenzori International Hotel based in Kasese Municipality said as hotel operators, they closely associate and condole with the bereaved families with confidence that the situation over this isolated cowardly incident will normalize too soon now that security was fully in charge. Omulodi Johnbosco Kananura, the local council three Chairperson for Katwe-Kabatooro town council who called for vigilance among the locals, said close collaboration was on by different security stakeholders for the safety of tourists and the local community.
President Museveni who vowed that the attackers would pay for their act with their own blood, had in an earlier statement yesterday said the UPDF had changed tactics used in hunting down the rebels behind the attack.
The president noted that the Ugandan army has been using one form of tracking these fugitive groups from Congo by following their tracks but said more reliable ways of tracking them have been discussed and will be applied.
Gen. Museveni who is the Commander of the armed Forces in Uganda revealed that the two foreign tourists killed by suspected terrorists were newlyweds on honeymoon.
