Kasese district authorities have launched a fresh fight against the consumption of sanga meat in an attempt to thwart the spread of anthrax that has been reported in some districts of Uganda.
The resolution was reached at today morning during an emergency District Taskforce Meeting held at the Kasese Municipal board room aimed at laying modalities of preventing anthrax in Kasese district.
Anthrax outbreak was confirmed on 29 November last year in Kabira, Kasasa and Lwankoni sub counties in Kyotera district.
According to Mr. Justus Nayetegeza Kwezi, the Veterinary Inspector for Western Region, Kasese is best known for consuming sanga meat because at first the traders would deal in fresh meat but later started smuggling in contaminated meat after attaining trading licenses.
