Light traffic has resumed along the Kamdini-Karuma road following the completion of a temporary detour at the damaged section.
By yesterday morning, light vehicles, including buses, medium trucks, vans, and saloon cars, had begun using the newly constructed detour as heavy trucks and trailers, however, will continue to divert through the Karuma-Olwiyo-Anaka route to Gulu and beyond until further notice, as engineers commence emergency restoration of the main carriageway.
Eng. Henry Komakech, a Senior Civil Engineer with the MoWT in charge of the Gulu Substation, confirmed the development and urged motorists to exercise caution while using the detour, emphasizing strict adherence to traffic management instructions, including a mandatory 30 km/hr speed limit.
