Police in the Kiira region have arrested Hellen Baliraine, a music director at Busoga Diocese over torture.
Ms Baliraine, a resident of Nakanyonyi-Bukwale cell, Northern division, Jinja city is accused of severely inflicting harm on Catherine Kisakye, her house help aged seven years.
Ms Baliraine who was arrested last week when she took Kisakye for medical attention at Bugembe Health Centre IV, attempted to downplay torture claims, stressing that, Kisakye was reportedly torched in a house fire but after interrogation, she confessed to having disciplined Kisakye for stealing her baby’s milk and meat.
Kiira regional police spokesperson, James Mubi said that the suspect will appear in court today. END
