Jinja Police are investigating circumstances under which Zakayo Musumba, a herdsman at Mutai Senior Secondary School hacked to death the school cook.

Musumba is said to have hacked Peter Kabusera this morning at the school premises in Kanyali village in Buwenge Sub County in Jinja district.

It is alleged that two disagreed on the use of the school bicycle prompting Musumba to attack the deceased with a machete. However, Musumba, who also sustained injuries in the scuffle and is nursing injuries at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, claimed that they had been attacked by machete wielding men.

But a teacher who spoke to journalist on condition of anonymity claims that the two had a disagreement on Sunday evening but never imagined them killing each other.

Arajab Kakande, the Kanyali Village Defense Secretary, says he received reports indicating that the two were involved in a deadly fight. He however, says Kabusera had already breathed his last by the time he arrived at the scene. Mr. Arajabu speaking…..

Sadiq Tabo, the Officer in Charge of Mutai police post says they teamed up with residents to try and save the deceased’s life in vain.  Sadic Tabo speaking……

He says the deceased’s body has been handed over to Jinja regional referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem as investigations into the matter continue. ENDS
