The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi has described as illogical, the claims that opposition supporters are being abducted using drones and firearms, only to be subsequently held in government prisons and safe houses.
He was responding to a confession by Moses Ssimbwa, a self-proclaimed activist from the National Unity Platform (NUP), who had previously accused the government of subjecting him to torture.
While speaking to the audience during the NRM 38th liberation celebrations in Jinja yesterday, Ssimbwa said he was manipulated by the opposition to make false torture allegations against government.
He confessed that opposition politicians had taken advantage of his vulnerable situation to advance their own agenda.
Ssimbwa clarified that his injuries were actually a result of an accident and not the alleged torture he had previously claimed.
