Israel has approved the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release plan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says in a statement.
Mr. Netanyahu calls it a “momentous development” and thanks President Donald Trump, as well as US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner – who both attended the Israeli cabinet meeting.
Trump says Israeli hostages could be released on “Monday or Tuesday” as the first phase of an agreement would also see Israel release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Israeli troops have begun to withdraw from parts of Gaza; and hundreds of trucks of aid entering Gaza as music blares in the streets of Jerusalem in celebration of the development. END
