The acting Community Liaisons Officer for Kasese Division Police Inspector of Police, Joachim Bwakya has asked witnesses to record statements at Police and make follow-up on cases to avoid clashes whenever the suspects are reportedly released on bond after the mandatory 24 hours.

Meanwhile, a total of 41 criminal cases are set to be heard during the inaugural high court session in Kanungu district.
According to James Ereemye Jumire Mawanda, Judiciary Public Relations Officer, the cases include 8 for rape, 14 for aggravated defilement, 6 for aggravated robbery, 10 for murder, 2 for aggravated trafficking, and 1 for manslaughter.
Speaking at the opening of the circuit in Kasese District on Tuesday, Principal Judge Hon. Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija announced that Justice Tom Chemtai, the Resident Judge for Rukungiri High Court, will preside over the session.
Justice Zeija emphasized that the purpose of holding a high court session in Kanungu is to reduce the backlog of cases.
He added that the judiciary is considering holding such sessions in Kanungu at least twice a year.
Sam Arineitwe Kajojo, the Kanungu District Local Council Five Chairman, praised the judiciary for extending the circuit to Kanungu.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police Spokesperson, says that 49 suspects (48 males and 1 female) are currently in custody and will be presented during the session to answer the charges against them. END.
